Wanting to believe their mother left some guidance to help heal the wounds of her abs...。该剧改编自马伯庸的同名小说，算学天才帅家默（张若昀饰）因一次偶然，发现仁华县税赋账册一个长达百年的赋税错误，开启了纠错证实之路。百姓、官员、乡绅，不同阵营因丝绢案牵扯在一起，纠葛不断，相互斗法。。周仔是大澳警署署长，一次偶然中，他的部下发现了一具尸体，并且在误打误撞之中错误的逮捕了高级督察麦克，于是，麦克的上司决定让麦克和周仔一起侦查此案。刚开始，麦克和周仔因为做事风格不同，两人之间常常产生矛盾。
村长的女儿亚花找到了麦克，告诉他自己的父亲曾经和死者有过矛盾，这让麦克将调查的重点放在了村长的身上。麦克的不断打探让他和当地的居民们之间的误会越来越深，终于矛盾爆发，村民们群起而攻之，所幸得到了周仔的救助，麦克才逃过一劫，这也让周仔和麦克之间的羁绊加深了。很快，麦克就发现自己受到了亚花的误导。。
