由《威鲸闯天关》男主角贾森·詹姆斯·里克特再次担纲主演的续集。已长成少年的杰西已接受了养父母的家庭，他跟同母异父弟弟艾维斯和养父一起到西北海岸渡假，意外地跟老朋友威利和他的鲸鱼家族重逢，重温昔日欢乐时光。不料一轮老旧油轮触礁，漏油影响海洋生态，更威胁到鲸鱼的生存。杰西为了救它们脱险而陷身火海，最后由威利将他救出生天。导演德怀特．利特尔运用了大量的模型摄影和电脑动画特技来增加本片危险场面的可看性，可惜做得不太逼真，不过蓝天碧海的映象则漂亮怡人。。Fries soup, Viennese juice goulash, Linzer torte: Maria Lieblich, Steffi Krieg and Carola Bleibtreu are on everyone's lips with their Austrian specialty restaurant "Lieblich an der Elbe" in Dresden's Elbschlösschen.
