1930年代，与敌作战受伤的红军师长陈赓（杨绍林饰）只身赴上海就医，由于叛徒出卖，不幸被捕。蒋介石（赵恒多饰）闻讯大喜，由于陈原是黄埔军校学生，与蒋有师生之谊，并在东征中救过蒋的命，更有救命之恩，他派夫人宋美龄（朱可心饰）前去做工作，劝陈脱离共产党，但遭拒绝。陈被押到南京后，蒋煞费苦心，先是许以高官厚禄，后又威逼利诱，陈软硬不吃，最终，敌人把他投入监狱。在狱中，陈与同关牢房的教会学生玛丽（徐金金饰）互诉身世，并给玛丽讲述革命道理，玛丽深受感染。狱外，以宋庆龄（肖惠芳饰）为首的进步人士陈词痛斥南京当局残害共产党人和无辜民众的罪行......。Quand une nouvelle épidémie d'ampleur planétaire va-t-elle frapper ?
