The poet Dante is lost in a dark and gloomy wood. At the summit of a mountain he sees the light of salvation. He endeavors to ascend to it, but his way is barred by three wild beasts, symbolizing Avarice, Pride and Lust. Virgil knows another way to go, ...。从师范学校毕业之后，方雪梅（王小蓉饰）离开了大城市，只身一人前往边远山区，决定在那里成为一名乡村支教老师。抵达白云山大队后，忠厚老实的当地青年贵根（徐行饰）接待了方雪梅，贵根性格老实肯干，任劳任怨，在他和当地的生产大队的帮助下，学校很快就有模有样的建立起来了。之后，方雪梅和贵根又走街串巷，说服乡亲们将孩子送进学校学习。 在帮忙建设学校的同时，贵根也产生了想要考学的念头，在方雪梅的帮助和辅导下，他每日挑灯夜读不懈努力，最终终于实现了梦想，考上了理想中的大学。而他和方雪梅，也因为这朝夕相处相濡以沫而渐渐产生了感情。。
