这部电影带有浓厚的新现实主义风格，基本上与费里尼中后期的神采飞扬不一样，采用了纪实手法来讲述一个爱情故事，结构简单，多用长镜头。片中的内容与战后意大利贫瘠的社会现实相吻合。本片也是费里尼首次与自己的妻子玛西娜合作。乡下姑娘莉莉加入一家剧团，她的表演相当成功，不但在观众中大受欢迎，剧团团长契克也暗中爱上了她。由于契克常常醋意大发，剧团惹上了许多麻烦，最终不得不解散收场……。女主因化学实验爆炸穿成公主，开局被恶毒女设计投河，幸得太子相救。宫宴上，她发现皇上皇后等竟是前世车祸去世的亲人，但宫中父母已离心。她借现代思想打脸后宫，与太子联手抗敌并暗生情愫。。After a violent thunderstorm scares a house party, the guests flee to a nearby home for shelter.. only to discover, a more sinister hand is at play..
