影片故事讲述了一个中年男子盖伊发现了全国拼字大赛（八年级组）的一个比赛漏洞，即比赛只规定学历在高中文化程度却没有限定具体年龄，于是正好在高中辍学的盖伊就无耻地参加了这一大赛，结果盖伊在这项全部由中小学生参加的比赛中大获全胜。
